Roy and Kathy Jones

Roy attended roy-and-kathyLubbock Christian College from 1970 to 1972. He continued his studies at Lubbock Christian in 1975 where he met his wife, Kathy Sue Jones. They were later married in Odessa on January 1st of 1977. Roy and Kathy have four children who all live in the Denver Metro area. Roy graduated from Lubbock Christian in 1979 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Bible. He worked for churches as a college minister, a missionary in Micronesia for 13 years and a pulpit minister for over 15 years. He has a passion for ministry and working with churches. Roy and his family moved to Odessa in June of 2000 where he worked for the West University Church of Christ until July of 2015.

Roy realized early on in his ministry that many believers and churches struggle with conflict but had little training to deal with it. He was moved by the Spirit to seek training in this area. He believed in God’s plan for his church so he completed training in conflict management, mediation, and advanced mediation-divorce disputes. He received his graduate certificate in Mediation in August of 2007 and a Master of Arts in Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation in August of 2008 from Abilene Christian University. He has certifications in Critical Incident Stress Management and Peer Support in Law Enforcement. He is trained to administer the Conflict Dynamics Profile and has taught conflict management from a Christian perspective to church leaders and members over the last seven years. In addition to his ministry responsibilities, he worked twenty hours a week for the Odessa, Texas Police Department as their lead police chaplain supervising as many as twenty volunteer police chaplains. Roy’s responsibilities at the Police Department were recruiting and training volunteer chaplains who were ministers from many different faith backgrounds, teaching a stress management class in the Odessa Police Academy, and counseling officers. He is currently working as a Denver Math Fellow. He has a heart for those struggling with addictions and discord in their marriages and works with Celebrate Recovery and Marriage Builders.
